RBG Pumpkin Trail 2026: tickets, terrain and the stroller catch

Book a timed ticket before going to RBG’s Great Pumpkin Trail. The remaining 2026 dates are October 17 to 18 and 23 to 25. Only a short garden loop is fully wheelchair and stroller friendly.

A pumpkin evening with the right route

Before booking RBG’s pumpkin trail, decide whether your group can enjoy the natural valley route or needs the shorter accessible garden loop. That choice affects the whole evening, especially with a stroller. The full display and a gentle quarter-kilometre garden visit are different experiences, and the ticket price deserves a clear plan.

Pick the route before buying

The full route is about one kilometre with rough, sloping ground. RBG recommends sturdy shoes and a flashlight. Its accessible alternative is a quarter-kilometre loop in the garden. If a stroller or wheelchair is essential, decide whether that shorter experience meets your needs before paying.

Budget for the whole group

Listed adult tickets are $25 to $27 and ages 3 to 12 are $18 to $20, plus tax and a $2 service fee. Ages two and under are free but still need a ticket. Food is another spending choice. A general garden ticket or library pass does not replace this special-event ticket.

The evening has a fixed starting point

Enter at RBG Centre, 680 Plains Road West. Keep the emailed tickets ready and follow the date and time you selected. Do not split a group across the last few available spaces unless you are happy attending separately. A sold-out date is not a walk-up plan.

Is this the sort of evening your family will enjoy?

An October 2024 discussion gives a more useful answer than a simple star rating. Some visitors enjoyed the carved designs, music and family atmosphere. Others found it expensive or underwhelming. One person liked the pumpkins but thought there were too many artificial lights. Another preferred a quieter night and was happy to support the gardens. These are different tastes, not a single community verdict.

The stroller replies were especially practical. One parent described roots and rocky ground and used a carrier; another said a stroller could make it but would be awkward. The current RBG guidance should decide your route. The full valley trail is about one kilometre and is not recommended for strollers. The accessible garden alternative is about a quarter-kilometre. Choose for the route your group can comfortably use, rather than paying first and hoping the rough section works.

Price the whole evening before choosing a slot

The checked adult range is $25 to $27 and the child range is $18 to $20, plus tax and a $2 service fee. Read the fee application in the live booking total rather than multiplying a remembered ticket price. Even a toddler whose entry is free needs a ticket. Regular garden admission or an old membership comment does not establish entry to this separately ticketed event.

The upcoming family dates are October 17 to 18 and 23 to 25. October 22 is the separate 19+ After Dark event. If your family wants a simple nature walk rather than an evening display, that is a different outing and budget. For the trail itself, bring the recommended flashlight and warm layers, then go to RBG Centre at 680 Plains Road West for check-in. Leave enough time for arrival without turning the evening into a race.
